USA Judo President’s Cup Comes to Irving on Sunday

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The 2022 USA Judo President’s Cup is expected to be the largest edition of the tournament in history on Sunday when nearly 800 athletes take the mat in Irving, Texas.

Competition will be held at the Irving Convention Center with athletes going for gold in senior, junior, veteran, novice, brown belt and visually impaired divisions.
Tickets are available at the door for $15 with a discounted rate for children ages 9-12 at $10. Children ages eight and under are admitted free.
The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday with divisions running through completion.
Athletes competing this weekend include World Team members and Senior National medalists, including:
- Chantal Wright (San Antonio, Texas / Semper Fortis Judo / 70kg), four-time Senior World Team member and two-time USA Judo Senior National Champion
- Nate Keeve (San Rafael, Calif. / NYAC / 100kg), 2021 Senior World Team member and two-time USA Judo Senior National Champion
- Alexander Knauf (Vernon Hills, Ill. / NYAC / 90kg), 2022 Senior World Team member and No. 7 in Junior World Rankings
- Giovanna Prado (Coral Springs, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center / 48kg), 2021 Senior World Team member and two-time USA Judo Senior National Champion
- Mackenzie Williams (El Lago, Texas / West Lake Judo Club / +78kg), 2019 Senior World Team member and two-time USA Judo Senior National Champion
- Christopher Velazco (Coral Springs, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center / 60kg), No. 5 in Cadet World Rankings and 2022 USA Judo Senior National Champion
- Tasha Cancela (Coral Springs, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center / 57kg), two-time Junior World Team member and 2022 USA Judo Senior Nationals silver medalist
- Emily Jaspe (Hialeah, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center / 63kg), No. 4 in Cadet World Rankings and 2022 USA Judo Senior Nationals bronze medalist
- Nicole Cancela (Coral Springs, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center / 52kg), No. 4 in Cadet World Rankings and 2021 Junior Pan Am Champion
- Isabella Garriga (Richmond, Texas / Texas A&M Judo / 70kg), two-time Junior World Team member and two-time USA Judo Senior Nationals medalist
