Danish Open Day 1

Team USA made itself at home in Vejle, Denmark on the first day of competition at the Danish Open. At the high level event that features nearly 700 competitors from 23 countries, U.S. players took home 13 medals for the day, including eight golds! On a day where the U18 and Sr divisions were contested, Team USA finished number one in the medal standings, ahead of the runner up, the Czech Republic. The delegation from the U.S was strong from top to bottom, with nearly every player winning multiple matches. 

Some of the highlights included: 

  • Teenagers, Jacob More (Gold), Tasha Cancela (Gold), Giovanna Prado (Gold) Max Antoniou (Bronze) and Noran Elmahroukey (Bronze) earning medals in competitive Sr divisions
  • Karlee Carrouth dominating the competition in the U18 63kg division
  • Natalija Stanojevic defending her U18 +70kg title from 2019 with three decisive wins
  • Maia Waggoner (44kg), Christopher Velazco (50kg) and Jack Yonezuka (66kg) all taking titles in U18 divisions
