Liberty Bell Dojo Winter Tournament

Jan 27, 2019 - Jan 27, 2019

A total of 83 judo competitors from 9 different clubs met on the mat in Pennsylvania to compete at the Liberty Bell Dojo Winter Tournament.

The event started over 30 years ago to allow new judoka and beginners to have a small controlled tournament, gain experience, compete by rank and experience to get a good start in judo.

61% of the competitors were under the age of 12 and competed in the first session. The remaining 38% of the competitors were 13+ years old and competed in the second session.

The youngest athlete was 5 years old and the most veteran was 52. All junior competitors had a snack and water when they were finished competing in session 1 and the seniors enjoy pizza and Philly cheesesteaks at the end of session 2.

Referees included Sue Oles and Paul Tarrent; who are both internationally ranked referees.
