With a total of 27 countries, USA takes 7^th overall at the 2019 Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru.

Team USA brings home one silver medal, three bronze medals, five 5^th place and three 7^th place finishes.

Pan Am veteran, Angelica Delgado (Ki-Itsu-Sai) won her 6^th Pan Am Championships medal, while Nefeli Papadakis (Wolf Judo) and Jack Hatton (Pedro’s Judo Center) each won their first.

Great work Team USA and congratulations to the athletes who placed in Lima.

SILVER:

Angelica Delgado (-52kg) won both of her first two preliminary matches on the day with impressive ippons, both under 40 seconds long. She defeated Luz Olvera of Mexico in the Semifinal sending her to the Finals. There she faced Larissa Pimenta of Brazil and in a match lasting over 5 minutes, ultimately Angelica lost earning her a Silver medal on the day.

BRONZE:

Jack Hatton (-81kg) won his first two preliminary matches over Luis Sotelo Angeles of Peru and Noel Pena of Venezuela sending him to the Semifinal. There he fell to Etienne Briand of Canada sending him to the fight for 3^rd place. In his final match, he faced Adrian Gandia of Puerto Rico in a match lasting over six minutes where Jack ultimately came up successful and earned a Bronze medal.

Hannah Martin (-63kg) won her first two preliminary matches as well against Madeline Choconta of Columbia and Alexia Castilhos of Brazil sending her to the Semifinal. There she fell to Canadian Catherine Pinard-Beauchemin sending her to the fights for 3^rd place against USA teammate Alisha Galles. There, Hannah would end up with the Bronze medal winning by waza-ari over Galles.

Nefeli Papadakis (-78kg) won her first preliminary match over Lucia Cantero of Argentina sending her to the Semifinals. There she fell to Mayra Aguiar of Brazil earning a spot in Repechage. She was ultimately victorious over Liliana Cardenas of Mexico earning her a Bronze medal.

5th PLACE:

Amelia Fulgentes (-57kg) won her first preliminary fight over Anette Aguilar of Bolivia, but lost her second preliminary fight to Anailys Dorvigny of Cuba, sending her to Repechage. The beat Columbian, Keyla Vasquez sending her to the Bronze medal match. In her final match she faced Ana Rosa of the Dominican Republic and eventually lost, earning her a 5^th place finish.

Alisha Galles (-63kg) won her first preliminary fight over Julieta Perez of Mexico, but fell in her second preliminary fight to Maylin Del Toro Carvajal of Cuba sending her to Repechage. There she beat Anriquelis Barrios of Venezuela sending her to the fight for 3^rd place against teammate Hannah Martin. There she fell in a tough match, earning her a 5^th place finish.

L.A. Smith (-100kg) won his first two preliminary matches against Jose Luis Arroyo Osorio of Peru and Isao Cardenas of Mexico sending him to the Semifinals. There he fell to Leonardo Goncalves of Brazil earning him a spot in the fight for 3^rd place. In a match lasting into Golden Score, Smith would fall to Thomas Briceno of Chile earning him a 5^th place finish.

Mackenzie Williams (+78kg) won her first preliminary match over Laura Castillo of Columbia, but fell in her second preliminary match to Beatriz Souza of Brazil sending her to Repechage. There she beat Amanda Bredeston of Argentina by ippon in just 33 seconds! In her last match of the day, she would fall to Melissa Mojica of Puerto Rico earning her a 5^th place finish.

Nina Cutro-Kelly (+78kg) lost her first match of the day to Melissa Mojica of Puerto Rico sending her to Repechage. There she faced Izayana Marenco of Nicaragua and ultimately won by ippon in just over one minute. In her last match of the day, she fell to Beatriz Souza of Brazil securing a 5^th place finish.

7^TH PLACE:

Anne Suzuki (-48kg) would win her first preliminary match against Jacqueline Solis of Guatemala, but would fall in her next two matches to Edna Carrillo of Mexico and Luz Alvarez of Columbia, earning Anne a 7^th place finish.

Colton Brown (-90kg) won his first preliminary fight over Tomas Spikermann of Argentina, but fell in his second preliminary match to Zachary Burt of Canada. In Repechage, he fell to Mohab El Nahas of Canada earning him a 7^th place finish.

Ajax Tadehara (+100kg) won his first preliminary fight by ippon over Yvanleah Maria of Curacao, but lost his second preliminary fight to David Moura of Brazil sending him to Repechage. There he ultimately fell to David Gomez of Mexico in a fight lasting over 8 minutes long, earning him a 7^th place finish.
