Team USA takes four 7th place finishes in Cancun.

Over 300 athletes from 46 countries gathered in Cancun, Mexico last weekend to compete at the Grand Prix.

USA was represented by: Anne Suzuki and Katelyn Jarrell, 48 kg.; Angelica Delgado and Maria Dhami, 52 kg.; Leilani Akiyama and Amelia Fulgentes, 57 kg.; Alisha Galles and Hannah Martin, 63 kg.; Chantal Wright, 70 kg.; Nefeli Papadakis and Nicole Stout, 78 kg.; Nina Cutro-Kelly and Mackenzie Williams, +78 kg.; Adonis Diaz, 60 kg.; Ryan Vargas and Alaa El Idrissi, 66 kg.; Alexander Turner, 73 kg.; Ruben Martin and Jack Hatton, 81 kg.; Colton Brown and Matthew Koch, 90 kg.; Nate Keeve and L.A. Smith III, 100 kg.; Ajax Tadehara, +100 kg.

Below is the recap of the 7th place finishers.

Angelica Delgado (-52kg) won her first preliminary fight against Nathalie Rouviere of Germany and faced 22nd ranked Karolina Pienkowska of Poland in the second fight. She eventually lost when time ran out. In Repechage, Angelica faced 12th ranked Evelyne Tschopp of Switzerland and fell again earning her a 7th place finish on the day.

Nefeli Papadakis (-78kg) won her preliminary match against #24 ranked Yahima Ramirez of Portugal, but fell in her next match to #29 ranked Kaliema Antomarchi of Russia to send her to Repechage. She ultimately fell to Karen Leon of Venezuela to earn 7th place.

Nina Cutro-Kelly (+78kg) fought hard in both her matches at the Cancun Grand Prix. Her first fight was against 5th world ranked Idalys Ortiz of Cuba. In Repechage, she faced #30 Anzhela Gasparian of Russia and fell earning her a 7th place finish.

Mackenzie Williams (+78kg) faced 4th ranked Maria Suelen Altheman of Brazil and fell to send her to Repechage where she faced #18 ranked Sarah Adlington of Great Britian where she eventually fell earning her a 7th place finish.
