USA Judo Partners with FLEOA 111 Project on Control Techniques Seminar During Police Week

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Judo’s Police Professionals and PAL Program has partnered with The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association 111 Project to host a control techniques seminar in Washington, D.C. on May 14 from 1-5 p.m.

Open to all law enforcement officers and those who support law enforcement, the session will take place at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, 999 Ninth St. NW and will be led by experts in judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, including judo black belts Joe Yungwirth (Davidson, N.C.) and Charles Cherry (Bowie, Md.) Through a partnership between the FLEOA 111 Project and Street Smarts VR, attendees also will have the opportunity to participate in a cutting-edge virtual reality simulation that is proven to maximize safety for law enforcement and the citizens within the community they serve.

Yungwirth, a founding member of the USA Judo P3 task force, is a retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent and also a former U.S. Army Special Forces soldier and police officer who owns the Yungwirth Judo Academy. A bronze medalist at the 2000 USA Judo Senior Nationals with a long career in local and federal law enforcement, Cherry also is a head instructor at Bellicose Martial Arts and a Desert Storm veteran for the U.S. Army.
