Junior Olympic Championships Updates

Several key updates have been made to the processes for the 2022 Junior Olympic Championships which can be found in the updated event registration packet, including:

• The on-line registration deadline has been extended from June 9 to June 15. We strongly encourage participants to register on-line by June 15 to avoid long lines at walk-up registration.
  
  
• Introduction of a new contingency weigh-in policy for those athletes who experience unforeseen circumstances that prevent them from attending the weigh-ins the day before the event that will allow them to weigh-in the morning of competition. Notification of this extenuating situation to USA Judo is required no later than two hours after the end of the scheduled weigh-in time.

Please Note: Contingency Morning Weigh-ins will ONLY take place during the morning of competition at the time designated in the packet. If your flight is delayed, etc. and you arrive after your scheduled weigh-in time, you must submit notification according to the policy in the entry packet and weigh-in early in the morning on competition day during the designated time.

• The criteria to compete in the novice divisions has been updated to note that athletes who earned a medal in a regular category at any 2021 USA Judo national event are not eligible to enter a novice category in 2022 or beyond. If an athlete earned a medal in a regular category at a USA Judo national event in 2022, he or she will remain eligible to compete in the novice events for the remainder of the calendar year. Also, if a competitor won a medal at a regular event without winning any matches, that individual will also be allowed to compete in the novice category.
