Eight-Medal Performance by U.S. Veterans in Cancun

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Team USA captured eight medals, including four gold, at the Pan American Veterans Championships in Cancun, Mexico, on September 12-13.

Gold medalists included Douglas Newcomer (Denton, Texas / Denton Jr Optimist Judo Club) in the -66M7 kg division, Joshua White (Atlanta, Ga. / Black Ice Judo) in the -90M2M3 kg competition, Marcus Surratt (Fort Worth, Texas / Fort Worth Judo Club) in the -100M4 kg division, and Christopher Hohmann (Fort Worth, Texas / Fort Worth Judo Club) in the -100M5 kg category.

The lone silver medalist for the U.S. came in the +100M4 kg division with Hector Negron (Copperas Cove, Texas / MSHQ Judo).

Bronze medalists were Aaron Villarreal (El Paso, Texas / Eastside Dojo) in the -81M4 kg division, Jonathan Michaud (San Mateo, Calif. / Griffin Judo) in the -90M2M3 kg, and Donald Sanders (Raleigh, N.C. / Black Ice Judo) in the +100M1M2 kg competition.
