Team USA Captures 18 Medals at Pan Am U13 Championships

Improving upon last year total of 16 medals, Team USA athletes competing at the Pan Am U13 Championships mounted the podium 18 times on Dec. 5 in Lima, Peru, winning medals across 13 of the 16 weight categories, including two golds.

2025 Pan Am U13 Championship Results

A total of 155 competitors from 10 nations took part in the event. The 32-member U.S. delegation finished second in the medal standings behind Brazil who secured 24 podium finishes.

Aleksei Kondratev (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Darfight) claimed the title in the male 31kg event, and was accompanied on the award stand by teammate Daniel Novitskiy (Hawthron Woods, Ill. / Cohen Brothers Judo Club), who took the silver medal at 31kg.

The other U.S. gold medalist in the U13 championships was Edwin Vega (Lehigh Acres, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center), who took the gold medal in the male 42kg competition with a win over Brazil's Gabriel Kitamura in the final.

Joining Novitskiy as silver-medal winners were David Michaelov (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Darfight) in the male 28kg, Adrian Infantado (Lehigh Acres, Fla. / Chief Pride Judo Club) in the male 34kg, Liam Quevedo (Hialeah, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center) in the male 52kg, Carolynne Teran (Pompano Beach, Fla. / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center) in the female 28kg, Blake Rego (Ewa, Hawaii / Hawaii Judo Academy) in the female 31kg, Emma Tavarez (Lehigh Acres, Fla. / Chief Pride Judo Club) in the female 34kg, Dharma Jones (San Diego, Calif. / San Diego Judo Club) in the female 38kg, and Gwen Briggs (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Mojica Judo Club) in the female 42kg.
