2023 Senior Pan American / Oceania Championships Team Selection Procedures

IJF

The 2023 Senior Pan American Championships will be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada September 15-17, 2023. The team will consist of 18 total athletes, 9 male and 9 female, based off the IJF Olympic Ranking List (ORL) that includes all results through Monday, August 21, 2023. This list will be used to identify the 9 highest ranking male athletes and the 9 highest ranking female athletes. The ranking will be based on IJF Olympic Ranking List points. All selections will be based on the number of accrued points per weight division on the IJF Olympic Ranking List.

IJF Olympic Ranking List

There will be a maximum of 2 athletes in any single weight category. If a category has already been filled by 2 athletes, no other athletes may be considered for that category unless there is a subsequent withdrawal from one of the two occupied slots. In the case of any withdrawal, the next highest ranked eligible athlete on IJF Olympic Ranking List will be selected to the team providing their weight division has unfilled slots. This will continue until all 9 slots are filled for both men and women.

These athletes will be named to the 2023 Senior Pan American/Oceania Championships Team.

The above criteria is based on the current IJF eligibility rules. If the IJF changes eligibility rules, USA Judo reserves the right to modify the 2023 Senior Pan American/Oceania Championships Team criteria.
