Irving to Host USA Judo Senior National Championships in 2027

(Colorado Springs, CO) – USA Judo has announced Irving, Texas, as the host of its 2027 Senior National Championships. The senior, IJF-Junior and veteran shiai competition will be held on Saturday, May 15, with the Kata National Championships on Sunday, May 16. The tournament is expected to draw more than 600 participants aged 15 and older to the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas.
Although Irving hasn’t hosted the USA Judo Senior National Championships since 2016, it has hosted USA Judo’s annual President’s Cup for 13 consecutive years.
“We are certainly no strangers to Irving and its capacity to host our national events,” said USA Judo CEO Corinne Shigemoto. “The Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas is a wonderful facility that has welcomed our President’s Cup each November for the past 13 years. We are excited to bring our Senior Nationals, showcasing the country’s elite shiai and kata athletes, back to Irving for the first time in 11 years.”
The Irving Convention Center offers athletes and spectators convenient access to hotels, restaurants and entertainment throughout Las Colinas. Nearby amenities include a 350-room Westin hotel and the Toyota Music Factory, an expansive entertainment complex featuring an 8,000-seat indoor/outdoor amphitheater operated by Live Nation.
“USA Judo has been a valued partner for many years, and we look forward to welcoming the Senior National Championships back to Irving in 2027,” said Matt Tungett, director of sales. “Since Irving last hosted this event, Las Colinas has added more hotels, restaurants and entertainment within walking distance of the Irving Convention Center. We hope the Senior National Championships will become another longstanding Irving tradition, much like the President’s Cup.”
Outside of competition, athletes and their families can explore the area’s charming Mandalay Canal, take a gondola ride, dine along the waterfront and enjoy the many entertainment options throughout Las Colinas.
