2026 IBSA World Championships Team Selection Criteria

The 2026 IBSA World Championships will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, September 25–27, 2026.

Selection Criteria

Athletes will be selected according to the following criteria, in priority order:

Member of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Team.
Highest-ranked athlete on the current International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Ranking List as of July 1, 2026.
Highest-ranked athlete on the current USA Judo Ranking Roster as of July 1, 2026.
Minimum rank of Sankyu (Brown Belt) or higher.

Selection will proceed in the order listed above until each weight division is filled with a maximum of two (2) athletes.

Petition Process

If openings remain in any division after all selection criteria have been applied, eligible athletes may submit a petition for consideration. Petitions must be submitted to the USA Judo High Performance Director and should include any relevant competitive results, training history, and supporting information.
